My Week

Don't fall off your chair but last week I made another pillowcase.

This is another pre-stamped case from Hobby Lobby.

Ruby thinks that I need an intervention!

I also got a sweet pedicure, had 2 of my nephews spend a few nights here and we went to Rome Georgia to hear Andy's little brother preach and to help them paint the new baby's room!! I went out and got all of Cade's school stuff too! I really hate that summer is almost over!

First off, sorry for this dark picture, we have been having severe storms. This is the huge amount of embroidery stuff that I have somehow come to own! I just can not control myself when it comes to embroidery "stuff." I have had a couple of the books for awhile but I have bought most of it this year!! I have hoops, needles, floss holders, patterns, kits, books and FLOSS!!!! Who how I love embroidery floss!! You should see me snatching up the skeins!! I am going to blame this on Big B. I found her sweet embroidery patterns, followed the directions on her blog, learned how to make a lazy daisy stitch (and more) made Kelsey a set of pillowcases and I was hooked!! I love it so much but I have to slow down. How many pillowcases can I use?

I spend waaay to much time doing embroidery. I tell myself that it's practice so it's ok. The one place were I refuse to do embroidery is at Cade's Karate class. I sit there the whole hour thinking "I could be doing embroidery" but I will not!! Don't think that it is because I am paying so much attention to the class. When the class is sparring, I am so nervous I can't even watch. So, why don't I take some handwork to class?? Cade has a really super intense female instructor. Ms. Lisa. All the students love her. All the parents are scared of her. We are talking super fit, clean eating and highly motivating!!! Everytime she does a class on nutrition, I am so scared that she will smell the M&M's on my breath!! Anyway, I feel bad enough sitting on my butt during class, encouraging Cade to hurry with his 80 sit-ups and push-ups, If I sit and sew I am afraid Ms. Lisa will look at me with scorn in her eyes, she will know exactly why my butt is so big!!

Summer Embroidery

I hope everyone is enjoying their summer! Ours seems to be going by so fast. I love having Cade home and I don't even want to think about Kelsey packing up to head back to college.

We have been staying up late and some of us have been sleeping in. It has been super hot here and we have been getting strong thunder-storms in the evenings.



As for my sewing, after I finished the green baby quilt, I decided to take a quilting break and make this little embroidered pillowcase for my niece Ansley. It was alot of fun to do. I stressed a little with the faces. I didnt want them to look creepy and scare the poor girl! If anyone has any hints on embroidered faces, please, share with me! Also, this pattern had some satin stitching on it. Not my best stitch! I do o.k. on the little parts, the mouths and noses, but I left it off on the basket and the bow. It still turned out o.k. I have started the matching one.



Some other news, my grandmother is 86 years old and lives by herself on her own little farm. It is right up the road from all of us. The other night she woke up in the middle of the night and heard somebody moving in one of her rooms. She got up, not turning on any lights and snuck around in the dark, she tried to open the door to the room, a set of folding doors. The doors wouldnt open, she thought someone was holding them shut. Finally, she turned on the light only to find that a 4 foot SNAKE was hung in the door!!! YIKES!! She got on the phone and called my uncle. He said that she said "You better come on over here cause I'm fixing to have a heart attack" He had no idea what was going on!! He did get rid of the snake though!!

Hating On My Baby Quilt!

I hope that everyone had a wonderful 4th. My sister and her family came up so we meant at my parents house cause they have a pool, pond and my Dad is the best griller around!! We ate too much, shot off a ton of illegal fireworks, laughed way too loud and enjoyed every minute of it!!

I finished a baby quilt that I am giving to my sweet SIL. She and my BIL have tried and tried to have a baby and finally their baby girl is due on Halloween!!! My MIL embroidered these little Sunbonnet Sue blocks and asked me to make them into a quilt so that we could give the baby a gift from both of us. The blocks are darling and her embroidery is beautiful. I did think that they were a little pale and needed a little kick. I found the sweet pink floral for the border and knew that I wanted to use it for this quilt. I tried all sorts of fabric for the sashing around the blocks. I went with this green because: 1. I love this green. 2. The floral has little green leaves in it. 3. I thought it added a nice kick to the quilt. WELL, let me tell you! People around here have been hating on this quilt!! My husband and daughter do not like the green at all!! I thought about going with a sunny yellow or blue, maybe I should have. It is quilted now so I'm not changing it. What do you think?
